Tell Your Story
Have you had an abortion?
Helped a wife, friend, daughter, or other woman have an abortion?
Abortion is rarely discussed, yet it is a common aspect of our reproductive lives and one of the most frequently performed surgical procedures in the US. Current estimates are that one third of American women will have an abortion by the time they’re 45. By telling your story you can help other women feel less alone, you can lessen the stigma surrounding abortion in our culture, and you can contribute to a richer, more honest picture of the complexities of women’s reproductive choices.
Did you have an illegal abortion in 1967? Make a trip to New York in 1970? Did your girlfriend? Were you proud to exercise choice in 1975 or frightened to in 1989? Did you have an abortion recently? What was it like? What influenced your decision? How do you feel about it now?
